United States Martial Artist Association
Israeli Division Systems: KRAV MAGA, KAPAP, HAGANAH

For a martial arts system to be recognized as a part of the Israeli Division of the U.S.M.A.A., the system must have its origin confirmed in the State of Israel and recognized as an Israeli State sanctioned martial arts training system by the Wingate Institute Department of Martial Arts, Israel.

KRAV MAGA
KRAV MAGA is a hybrid martial arts and self-defense system developed for the military in Israel that consists of a wide combinations of techniques sourced from boxing, Savate, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, Jujutsu, wrestling and grappling, along with realistic fight training. KRAV MAGA is known for its focus on real-world situations and extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks.

KRAV MAGA was derived from street-fighting skills developed by Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld. The system was developed in the mid-to-late 1930s. The system was first taught to the IDF and later refined for civilian, police, and military applications.

KRAV MAGA is Hebrew and translates to “contact combat.” KRAV MAGA has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers and aggression.

KAPAP
KAPAPA is a hybrid martial arts developed in Jewish camps in the late 1930s. Israel is the country of origin. It was developed from bare-knuckle boxing, Greco Roman wrestling, knife fighting, judo, jujutsu, British and Indian stick fighting

KAPAP is an acronym for Krav Panim Panim el Panim (Hebrew), translated as “Face to Face Combat”, is a close quarter battle system of defensive tactics, hand-to-hand combat and self-defense.

HAGANAH
HAGANAH is a hybrid martial arts system developed in Israel in the late 1940s.  The HAGANAH self-defense system is a complete Israeli Combative methodology based on both Israeli martial arts and Israeli military tactics.

The techniques incorporated into the HAGANAH system have been proven in violent hand-to-hand combat situations in Israel and have been carefully adapted to street oriented self-defense. HAGANAH is a Hebrew word meaning “defense.”
